Well it does look a bit lightweight, but it's just trailing arm suspension similar to that fitted to every mini ever made (including the Z-cars
ones) isn't it. Or are you thinking of something else in the picture?

I'm just curious. It looks very flimsy and seems to be fully trailing and not semi-trailing.
Maybe the small dark picture doesn't do it justice.
Cheers, Rorty.

Time for me to improve my educasion
OK Linky shows the difference.
So, yes it looks like fully trailing. The mini and Z-cars also use fully trailing, so I guess that's where they got the inspiration. If they
are lucky and get it to handle like a mini they will be fine.
I agree it really doesn't look as sturdy as I'd expect (from the picture). Smooth racetrack use only?

I agree, horribly flimsy looking. However, you can't clearly see the other part of the trailing arm in that picture. It might be much larger
dimater than the diagonal to resist the torsional loads, in which case the diagonal wouldn't be quite as critiical.
Talking of ZCars, I had to wonder at their decision to use a trailing arm rear suspension. It works ok on a standard FWD mini, where the large
positive camber that is gained with body roll somewhat compensates for the inherent understeer. However, a fully trailing rear suspension with RWD
sounds like a potential recipe for terminal oversteer, especialy with wide, low profile tyres.

I was going to post virtually what you've said, but then I thought maybe it's retaining the FWD Fiesta engine.
Still doesn't excuse those trailing arms though.
I've seen a few Mini grassers that had the rear subframe cut out and an almost identical (though more substantial) looking set-up bolted in and
I wondered at the reasoning behind them too. Seemd like a wasted oportunity.
Cheers, Rorty.
