We used to have a pair of 525TDS Estates at a firm I used to work for. One Auto, one manual. (Great fun when you forgot which one you were in)

Plenty grunt so dead easy to get the back end out on roundabouts etc, but pretty hairy in the wet due to the weight. Nice sound from the exhaust and very well equiped inside.

I had the estate - loved it, then by wife lost it in the wet in what could have been a really nasty accident, I arrived on the scene as she was strapped to a board in the back of an amulance, luckily only a couple of minor cuts and whip lash.

Anyway, great car......

Not sure if this model has a MAF sensor
BMW diesels have a big problem with the MAF sensor it goes belly up and the fuel consumption and performance plumet.
same problem also affects recent VAG group cars.

Strange thing is if you unplug the MAF the engine runs fine without -- it loads the fall back values and gives much better consumption and better performance than even with a new MAF

I reckon the MAF sensor on the Audi might be knackered, although fuel consumption is fine.
It will accelerate hard to the red line in 1st and 2nd gears (not that I ever do that, what's the point).
In 3rd, 4th or 5th gears it sort of goes flat at around 3000rpm - as if the boost has been turned completely off. The strange thing is, if you momentarily lift off the accelerator and then back on, the boost and consquently the power reappears.
It's been like that since I got it - don't feel terribly inclined to do anything about it either
