Exhaust Clamps

What should I use to clamp my silencer to my exhaust manifold. The exhaust clamps I have seen are all big ugly U bolts which I don't like the look of. I'm not sure about stainless hose clamps either. What have you used?

I used a clamp from these people

Strong, stainless, hardly anything sticking out to upset Mr SVA.

Available from some of the major suppliers, or Power Engineering themselves.

Go to a good motorbike shop - you want to ask for Mikalor clamps - stainless and defo the best to use (like a very heavy duty jubilee clip).

Check out VW exhaust clamps , like a band with SVA friendly edges just had to make a domed cover for the nut. stronger than those already suggested.

I have just bought 2 types: the VW ones from German & Swedish (gsfcarparts.com), which have fitted, seem OK but the head popped off one of the coachbolts, so beware of overtightening. They were about 2 quid each depending on size. Smallest one they do is 42.5mm. Also bought some of the Jubilee Clip type from ebay: "fuelexhausts". Haven't yet used them, but the quality looks good, and the service from fuelexhausts was very good. Cost = £3.50 each, various sizes available.
Hope this is of some use.

Cheers,

Terry
