Ebay - buy it now?
Anyone know how this works. I'm watching something on ebay that I really want.
It has no bids on it at the moment and a buy it now option. If I put a bid on it, will that remove the buy it now option?
I'm going to try using that bid sniping software to win this one, but don't want someone buying it before the end of the auction.
Or does the buy it now stay until the end of the auction?
Cheers
Mike

As soon as a bid is placed buy it now goes.
If someone buys it now your stuffed!!
Suggest you place small bid to remove buy it now option and use a sniper to secure it.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

if the reserve is not met then the buy it now will stay. Or to put it another way, you can buy it now until the reserve is met, then its auction all
the way.
In the past, i have bid to remove a buy it now option, only to see the bidding go to double the buy it now price

E-bay is a funny critter.
I've seen many things sell at Higher prices than you can buy them at local shops.
People just get carried away or don't do their research.
There was no mention of a reserve in the original question
That puts a whole new slant on things.
I personally do not bid on items that have a reserve price.

Ebay charge for a reserve, it also tends to put buyers backs up, for both the buyer and seller it is better to have a more realistic start price
and/or a buy it now option.
Of course it goes without saying to watch postage/shipping costs and also payment methods. I would avoid any seller looking for wire tranfer of funds
-- a lot of the recent ebay scams involve this method of payment and for the same reason also avoid any sellers in the old Soviet block countries.

Buy it now can be really good sometimes. 2 weeks ago i was looking for guages, and i saw a 5 pc kit with a "buyitnow" og $109us, and it
usually sells for 3x that amount, and the bidding on ebay usually brings the price well over $200, so in that case buy it now was the best way to
go...
If you really want something, and bidding on that item usually goes higher then it's worth it to use the buy it now.
