Know your flags, one wrong n your out.

apart from that enjoy, its a good day out, don't try too overdrive the car, listen too the instructor, they/he/she will give good advice whilst out in the car.

Where you doing it ?

\Hi,

did mine at three sisters at wigan a few months back, only tips they gave us were these.

the first part of the written test is to do with the flags,ALL the flags are covered once(so if you stuck on 1, do the rest and you should only have 1 left to choose from) you probably know, but you need to answer ALL the first part correctly to Pass.

the second part was multi choice, four answers to each question, 2 of which are totally wrong, so your immediatley down to a 50/50 chance with the others.

example of the questions i had ....

if the car oversteers whilst cornering, do you

a) Accelerate
b) Brake Heavily
c) Steer into the slide
d) let go of the steering wheel.

(might not be exact, just and idea)

on the practical side, they just said, if you spin/loose control, you've failed.

they're not looking for speed, of the lap, more controlled with correct line/braking points etc

where are you doing yours?
let me know how you get on

Ray

Make sure you know all your flags, thats the bit they are really strict on. I didnt swat up enough on mine and there is a couple that i was slightly unsure about black with orange circle? black and white diagonal? the rest are fairly easy.
Dont drive the knackers off the car be smooth, on line and look ahead, brake hard but not violently.
They are looking for track manners so dont cut anyone up, but it does look good if you can overtake a few of the other cars out on circuit.
I did mine at Mallory earlier this year and their Focus RS is a great car to drive round in, I took a few porsches and caterhams with ease once you get on the right line.
Enjoy and have fun dont get too nervous.

Dont forget your licence and lid

Flags!

I'm colour blind and had to do a flag colour test before they'd let me on the circuit - they waved red and blue flags and I had to shout the colours!

My son does stock hatch, that's good fun and not too expensive, don't listen too the ones that tell you its all banger racing, those days have gone the 750mc cleaned it up very well, have a look at locost racing that's good close racing or maybe class c in RGB, there's plenty out there too look at. I really would/could recommend stock hatch though, there's that many competitors so there's always someone too race where ever you are on the grid, if you play your cards right you get loads of track time too,

example the last meeting at Cadwell Neal had qualifying, didn't qualify by right for the final so had a heat, that put him in the final, it was a 2 day meeting so he had the same again on the second day, so 1 qualifying session and 4 races for one entry fee, not bad.
