4 quid to cross a rusty bridge!!!!!!!!
Me thinks its getting near to a riot and a change of puppets.....
Forth Road Bridge board backs £4 toll plan
Operators said they need money for bridge repairs
The operators of the Forth Road Bridge have backed a system of variable tolls which would see charges rising to £4 for lone drivers during the rush
hour.
The decision was reached on the casting vote of the chairman of the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (Feta).
It must now seek ministerial approval before carrying out public consultation on the move, aimed at easing congestion and paying for repairs.
However, anti-toll campaigners have already promised opposition.

The differance is that there is another road you can use. In this case its the bridge or a two hour round trip to bypass this route.

Hang on a minute a few years ago they changed the rules. The toll was implemented only to pay for the bridge and it was paid off. They then said they
would continue tolls for future funding of road improvements. How come the thing has suddenly started to fall to bits? in the last 2 years they have
totally resurfaced the carriageways in the last 10 they have reinforced the steel columns just above deck level there are now big bolted collars
there?
If there is a fundamental problem they must have been aware of it given the amount of work they have been doing over the years. This has to be another
stealth tax

What do you think pays for all that paint?
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Dont start about paint thats another bridge with a whole set of new problems of its own.(Rail bridge)
The biggest laugh is the oldest bridge will out last the string bridge.....with its rusty cables.

In the Navy (Rosyth incidently), we used to protect standing cables with boiled sump oil, very effective.
