I can't complain about Smile (Co-op), don't do many visits, but I can either use Co-op branches or post offices.

The online banks are brilliant, can't remember how I coped before....

Mate has a business account and personal account with HSBC and he isn't happy with them. He's changing to Barcloyd Midlays... or maybe Barclays!

Been with the Halifax for ever, and so have my parents. Never had any trouble with them.

Have heard various bad things about Natwest and HSBC in the past.

Cheers,
David

Conrod,

Would love to make it over sometime but I've rarely been home to Winchester in the last year and it's never been on the right weekends. To make matters worse my Mum (and hence my MK) has now moved to Weymouth However, I will make the effort to get over your way sooner or later!

I have business and personal accounts with HSBC. I'm in the process of changing banks as I've had nothing but hassle with them lately. They used to be OK, but I wouldn't recommend to anyone now.

Trying to get a hold of someone is virtually impossible, all calls are directed through a call centre so there's little hope of getting any issues resolved in a timely manner.

Best Regards,

Steve.

6 of one.......

Personally i found lloyds really unhelpful

and have nothing but praise for hsbc
I had a problem with internet banking and when I rang up they answered without the phone even ringing. Plus it was a british call centre too.

I accept that somthing could go wrong tomorrow and they screw up sorting it. I am happy though because nothing has gone wrong yet

All shite. Absolutely all of them.

They don't understand why I need to spend 3k on a turbo for my R1 motor and forget the mortgage payments for a while. After all, my endowment is going to fall short by 10k, so whats the big fuss ?

I gave up with HSBC some time ago but transferred an account to First Direct who are HSBC online banking, they are pretty good online and on the phone can be a hassle paying money in but you can do this via the Post Office now.

My business accounts are with Royal Bank of Scotland, admittedly they do own Nat West but seem to trade better under their own brand. Before they bought Nat West they bought Williams and Glyns bank this was re-branded RBS and always was good.

I hope this helps

im with hsbc and have been since i left school, nothing to say bad about them and iv had no problems,i also use there online banking system which im told by a friend who helped with the sercuity of it is the safest one around.
i have heard bad stories about hsbc and with every other bank but if its the closest you to you then thats gotta be a bonus, but i suppose its the same with every bank and thats that the staff can make all the difference

I was with Barclays for decades, but was starting to get fed up with them. In the end, the last straw was when they gave me 43p interest for 3 months on my current account - then took tax off it!

I'm with the Halifax now - I usually get between £5 and £7.50 interest per month, depending on how much I've kept in the account. I also get the impression that they actually want my account, unlike Braclays Bonk. Downside with Halifax is that you have to put a minimum of £1000 into the current account per month to get the best rates & benefits.

David

After nightmares with Barclays and Lloyds I'm now with Nationwide.....I know it's technically not a bank but I can't speak highly enough of them they have been great so far..... I've also had good (well reletively) experiences with Natwest.

Been with First Direct for over 10 years, with no problems. Almost all transactions are done online, and the call centre, when needed, has been very good. You can get cash out free from most places, and for the few cheques I ever have to pay in, HSBC is the place and since I use a machine I don't have to deal with the counter staff.

I was with Barclays for 25 years, eventually left September last year, as the service was so bad. I've still to have anyone from them ask me why I closed my accounts. Still getting Junk mail from them.

Changed to First Direct, and find them superb.

Same here... not one problem. Even change my foreign currency for free and not bad exchange rates. Two branches within 5 miles of each other - me in't middle. I would recommend them 100% -

Been with HSBC for 18 years. Never had any real bother with them, and their internet banking is second to none.

Only real bit of incompetance was when I opened a joint account after I got married, and they managed to open two joint accounts and sent each of us two debit cards and two credit cards. That took a bit of sorting out.
