Don't know Jon, but it sounds like a few bits of your car have gone AWOL recently!
Can I ask why you chose chequer/tread plate for your sump guard, and does the pattern face in or out?

cos i had a bit lying around, "hard" type alluminum and its light n easy to bend..simple as that.......

That's what I was worried you'd say. Very dangerous, as it can snag on things it's supposed to glide over.
I was in a car once, that cart wheeled for some distance, and all attributable to "Bumpy side down".
