Top Ball Joint covers
Hi guys,
What are the options for this?
I know a bloke sells em on ebay - but £10+postage seems pretty 'spensive? 
I'm not cheap - just don't like being ripped off - and I'm sensing the 'You need this for SVA' is hiking the price
up!...?
I could be totally wrong though, it has been known.... from... time to time....

LOL - trouble with me is I'm shite at explaining things on a message board
I always put the wrong word or get it arse about face!...
Like in a recent post to Nat - I said fused earth, when i meant fused live! Doh!!!
Just a note not 'badmouthing' said memeber - just curious to know if they really are worth a tenner plus postage

I wouldn't pay a tenner plus postage. They're the sort of thing that fall off shortly after SVA anyway.

Why doesn't someone out there produce a kit of bits required to get you through SVA? Assuming we all have a book'esque Locost there must
be a bunch of bits which could be packaged up and sent out as a kit! Track rod end covers, shocker covers, top balljoint covers, various nut/bolt
covers, trim pieces etc. This must have been suggested before!
I'd buy that for a dollar! (Quote from which film?)

Im sure you could constuct something to cover up all the nuts and bolts (Pipe lagging springs to mind).
And i think the quote is from Robocop.

Yes I know all the SVA bits can be constructed from various sources but it'd be nice to just buy a cheap bag of bits which would get the job
done with minimal fuss! Of course, it's easy to come up with bright ideas like this when I haven't passed SVA yet but I guess the
enthusiasm might fade once SVA is behind me!!!

The top ball joint covers need to either have the top ball joint removed or the covers them selves need to be split to get them off . The first
upsets any camber and adjustment . When I fitted mine just before SVA I sliced them open and used a small cable tie to secure them . If any one wants
to borrow them I can take them off. Any covers have to be seen to be "permanent" for SVA . Believe pipe lagging is frowned upon ?

i thought the covers was one of mangoman's sidelines as i remember he had a supply with him at stoneleigh last year. i think bob used some
creative method involving an old bicycle inner tube to cover his top joints

If you can handle leather, then wrap the joint with thin foam, then cut a leather boot and hand stitch it on. Sort of work I do for 'the love
of it' on boats, and more than a few cars.
I use elk hide, but ordinary vinyl works on the car stuff. You could even colour it for contrast or match. Very bling bling.
The SVA fellas have always appreciated it.

OOh thanks for the replies guys
Syd - that's certainly a nice approach - but reckon my handiwork isn't upto the same standard as yours
Kev - that would be ace mate, be good to see your car one weekend when it isn't raining 
I'm about 90% complete now - so would be good to get some pre-SVA advice
