No doubting that either car is bloody quick, but that "race" looks very staged to me.

Yeah, got to agree. There are times when the Caterham goes past the Porsche as if it's stood still and vice-versa.

Not to mention the sheer number of cameras/cameramen that would have been required to film it in one take, all of which would have needed to be perfect.

Yes it is Sabine. It's a 2.3 duratec.

Wasn't there something recently, a Dunlop press release i think, about the CSR260 going round Topgears track quicker then the Konnigsegg?

Would make mincemeat of a GT2 then.

the nordschliefe is much more of a high speed circuit though so compared to topgear the porsche should be relatively quicker. but the caterham should have still easily beat it.

Anyone notice how the camera car left the Porsche on some of the bends.

I don't believe the GT3 would come close around that circuit.

Me thinks a certain german manufacturer made a donation to the Mrs Smith housekeeping fund to save face for a car costing 2 1/2 times more than a cheapy brit (sa)

I dunno - that was a 'special' GT2 with 550bhp and what looked like a sequential gearbox. The Caterham wouldn't be that far ahead in power to weight ratio and had none of the gestures towards aerodynamics or downforce production of, say, the record breaking Donkervoort. On a high speed track like the ring it coulda really been pretty close, specially with Sabine in the Porsche. Still think the caterham would have won though, and yeah - obviously staged .

Makes me suitably scared of what a 300bhp 4wd locost will be capable of (more than its driver that's for sure).
