EBAY delivery expectations are getting a bit OTT

going to rant now

As a high volume seller there is one thing on ebay which I can tell you

within reason it doesnt matter what you send customers as long as they get it really quick you could send them shite but they get it next day

"great ebayer next day delivery"

or you can send them an electronic item that could not work?

"Positive ++++++ super fast delivery havent tried it yet though "

its a joke

now the thing thats starting to annoy me is and its getting more petty every week

item finished saturday night
so then theres sunday
and monday

monday night email

MY ITEM FINISHED TWO DAYS AGO WHERE IS IT HAVE YOU SENT IT

blunt

so I be BLUNT back

then they get all apologetic

oh well the wonder ofthe human race

we should all approach the kit car industry like this

"WHERES MY ITEM ITS BEEN 9 WEEKS "

chris

I had that too. Sold a poorly Ipod and got the feed back, "good delivery, awful product!" It was even sold as having an unknown fault! Prat. Personaly if I'm in a rush I'll ask if they can send stuff ASAP (as I was for my best men's gifts! ), otherwise A week or so is reasonable. People hopefully have a life outside EBay.

Yeah its a nightmare on there nowadays ... I think you just need to put in listing what delivery is gonna be eg Delivery will be within 7 days ect ...
I gave up selling on there as it became to much hassle and to expensive with ebay fees and paypal fees.

The feedback system is a joke to ... tit for tat and people blackmailing with feedback

Fair point, if you've paid for next day etc shipping then it's only fair to receive that. If you've paid £1 however, expect it to take a little longer.

I;ve sold a fair amount of stuff this year on ebay, and I always tend to let the buyer know exactly when I shall be despatching the item in question. As buyer, I tend to email the seller, and enquire when he/she will be sending the item.... If it is urgent that I need something, I tend to avoid buying from EBay....

Cheers
Andy

I always end up going out of my way to buy or collect on ebay. I have found ebay to be sometimes more expensive than the shops (product dependant) lately....

What pisses me off is I bought a DVD the other day. Advertised as a UK seller, sending via Royal Mail 1st class.

Buy-it-now Monday evening, immediate Paypal payment. Get an e-mail Friday morning to say it's been sent Friday AM (what was wrong with Tues, Wed and Thur?)....
Finally arrives a week later.
Bloody seller is based in Guernsey (which is not a part of the UK BTW!!) and sent via flipping back-of-a-donkey Guernsey post (which is equally not a part of the Royal Mail)....

From ordering to receiving a DVD shouldn't take 9 days....

Annoyingly SWMBO (who is a teacher) needed it for a class so I ended up going to Oxford Street and buying another version...

Ebay don't seem to give a poo that the vendor is completely lying. Hell Guernsey's almost in France!! If I wanted a copy sent from a tax haven (through customs marked as "gift" which doesn't work often, meaning I might have even been liable for import tax) I'd go via play.com or cdwow!!! Lying bastards...

Oh well. Anyone want an as-new copy of Frankenstein??????

Hehe, funniest ebay feedback I've seen was a negative that said "Here's the feedback you've been badgering me for"

I bought a (2nd hand) laptop from someone on Ebay a while back and was not a little surprised to find the hard drive chock full of hard core porn movies. So I left the seller a positive feedback:

"Thanks for the hard core porn though I'm not into the man on man stuff"

I think it is important to distinguish between amateur sellers and professional shops selling on eBay. I expect that an amateur might take a few days to post. However I expect fairly quick delivery from a shop, especially when that is what they advertise.
I have found most eBay shops to be very professional, fast and good value.

I get a few things form HMV (also in Guernsey) used to be almost next day (as 1st class post) but now they do 'free' 1st class postage its 3 to 5 days on average

I've got a few things of Amazon they've all been quick so far (even 1 that I ordered at 16:50 and it came at 8:00 the next day !)

And even ebay hasn't been that bad for me (I don't sell stuff though), but I did have to wait 3 weeks for my conrods still they were cheep
and 2 weeks for some calipers - but he had advertised as collection only and was doing me a favour [pre aranged of course]

on the other side I won a crankshaft on ebay on a friday lunchtime and TNT sent me an e-mail an hour later saying they'd collected it would be delivered before 5 that night (thats 400+ miles in 3 hours = 133mph average) needles to say it was pre 9am monday when I got it - but thats still v. quick I thought

I have been having some trouble with Ebay as well with people putting in bids and then retracting them and with non payers.
The funny thing is, according to their rules, if you withdraw a bid on an item you are liable to have your account suspended but if you don't pay (which to me is worse) then as a seller you have to give them 14 days to pay then notify ebay and then wait another 14 days and then the bidder is told they have been naughty and don't do it again but no penalty, by which time any other bidder on the item has gone elsewhere.
