Happy and sad.
It was my last day working for TRW today and I'm feeling really quite sad. On the plus side, they had a whip round and bought me a compressor
and spray gun.

Were you at Shirley or Holford. Ive met some really great people at both sites (mainly engineering).
Are you moving onto pastures new? I hope it all works out for you.

I was at Holford 'till it closed and have been at Shirley for the last 18 months or so. I start at Haldex in January, at one time part of Lucas
(now TRW) itself.
So you're a Nissan guy then?

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

One of the largest OEM parts suppliers in the world!
TRW Incorporated was an American corporation involved in a number of businesses, mostly defense-related, but including automotive, aerospace and
credit reporting.
The credit reporting business, was spun off in 1996, is now called Experian.
Lucas Diesel Systems was acquired by Delphi Automotive in 2000 and is now call Delphi Diesel Systems
On December 12, 2002, Northrop Grumman acquired the corporation. The defense business was retained by Northrop Grumman. An 80.1% stake (later
increased to more than 90%) in TRW Automotive Holdings, including the former LucasVarity Automotive, was spun off to The Blackstone Group, with John
C. Plant retaining his position as President and the new company being renamed TRW Automotive Inc. TRW Aeronautical Systems, formerly Lucas Aerospace,
was purchased by the American Goodrich Corporation.

Thompson, Ramo and Wooldridge, according to the handsome brochure they handed out when they took over Lucas Industries.
smart51 - did you jump, or were you - ahem - "pushed"? Every time I've been back (er____ to get some Locost metal bashing done!!!),
there seems to be a few less people. Certainly in Brake Engineering.
On the other hand, I hear that the engineering contingent at Koblenz has reached 700!
At least you have a new job. Good luck for the future.
Work-in-Progress: Changed to Zetec + T9. Still trying!!

No, I jumped. I was doing less engineering and more paper pushing the longer I stayed. So were the whole team really. The Haldex job is more hands
on and better paid.
TRW said if I wanted to go back at any time, give them a ring and they'll see what they can do...

TRW probably make most of your car. Brakes, ABS, engine managments, steering, engine valves, airbags, seatbelts, body control computers, all the
clever bits.
When I joined the company was Lucas, who were in the process of taking over Varety, whilst simultaneously being taken over by TRW. TRW were at the
same time being taken over by Northrop Grumman. TRW had 2 divisions, automotive and aerospace. The Head of automotive got the top job over the head
of aerospace, so the aerospace guy left to join Northrop Grumman who then bought the whole of TRW. He then sold off the Automotive arm to a venture
capitalist group.
They make bits of cars.
