Cracking footage Paul,
would you say that the zx10r is a pretty safe motor after the track work you have done recently, and did you ever get a baffle plate for it or not

Nice bit of video Paul... that engine seems good but the real difference is the difference in chassis. It's amazing how much of an improvement that new chassis is over the old one...

I still think the 12 has the edge...

I'm sure the new one handles real well but I just think it doesn't look quite right with coilovers tucked away.

Which brings me back to the point about the chassis... Paul said himself on the back straight we had the edge. Put your little wooden spoon away you to add to that it was me driving - I haven't driven our car for 6 months!!!! Pauls' car was being hard accelerated mid-corner, if I'd have tried that in ours, I'd have ended up in many a gravel trap - oh hang on a bit - I did!!!

I still had loads of fun - pottering along... but I'm not happy at all with the way ours handled. Still, now it's damaged it may be time to move on...

Steve

I would agree with Steve on the new chassis, because I am not that good a driver, there's a even bigger difference between it and the old chassis than even I first thought when I drove the 1st one at donnington 2 years ago,you can get the power down much earlier out of the corners, also I was cheating a bit with a trickshifter, full throttle upshifts has got to make a couple of metres per gearchange,I might have forgot to tell Steve I had one of them fitted

Touch wood Rich,no problems yet,Malc said they would be ok,and so far he's right.Ive not got a baffle fitted either,Andy at AB performance has offered to make some if I can get him a engine down to him,but I am too bone idle to go all the way down there.
Done a Cadwell,Bruntingthorpe on slicks, and now Teesside,so its bound to go now,and someone will say,I told you so going to bruntingthorpe again on Saturday,so fingers crossed.

I would be interested in a billet sump Steve "worX" have you any details

Paul,

When you removed your bonnet I realised what we were up against. The trickshifter that Alan (wadders) has made a massive difference on upshifts. I was well impressed!

I would say that the new chassis (together with a full roll cage) made the whole setup stiffer and more predictable. When I was spectating on the fast left negative camber corner - you were accelerating mid-pre corner, in the original Indy there is very little you could do with this as it just spits you off at almost every opportunity on a track.

All the other Indys apart from ours seemed to be handling quite well though, so there's scope for improvement.

Could possibly be wear on the bushes. Difficult to say really until we take them apart. Talking about "badly put together", you never did attend many shows or trackdays. I wonder why?....................

Phil

PS - Paul, we've got some good footage of yours from behind.

I have some vid following the Hellfire car two up, and actually looks a lot more stable in the corners. Compared with my current youtube effort, the lines look a bit better, so possibly the better driver of the two.. (There's another can of worms opened! )
Will try to persuade son, Pete to get it onto youtube this weekend.

As there were three drivers Andy together with Phil and I trying to gain a decent line in view of our handling problems there would likely be little consistancy between laps.

Hey - none of us have had any driver training (I have about 20 years ago) and just go along for a laugh and joke with the crowd. Yes, we'd like to get better and be able to say we could 'compete' (if thats the right word) but we dont profess to being anything other than amatuer builders who built a website to try to help others.

I seem to be getting a feeling of deja vu about this thread... maybe its the company this thread has attracted!

I hope it doesn't spoil the whole LB forum again...

Steve
