Hi Liam
Sorry to hear that your job in the US has ended, but surly they will pay for your passage home on a proper ship?

Most narrow boats are steel construction if you are looking for books on the subject.

I wouldnt trust that website you linked to. Smacks too much of Uncle Ron.
Also says website founded in 1966. well thats foresight!!
This is personal advise or personal opinion.
Constructive comments gratefully recieved, picking is left for noses.

Sounds like a new book idea:
"how to build a boat for a few k's and make it float"
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Bruce Robarts has been selling boat plans for many, many years, and definately NOT like uncle Ron, :-) one thing to consider is the time it will take
you to build it, recon on around five years, (and I talk from experience), having built several boats of various sizes, (non in steel though). I have
seen many started, where people thought it was going to be a quick build, and then given up. When you start building, you can say goodbye to holidays,
as all your spare time has to be spent on the build. So if all that hasn't put you of, build and be dambed, I enjoyed all of the building that I
did. Good luck, Ray

I'm under no illusions about how big an undertaking this is. but recent events in my life have made me want to make the very best of my
time.
Boat building was the family business until my grandfather decided to sell up before i was old enough to be involved. It have always wanted to do it
and now seems a good time, other than steel prices of course

I'd looked at Bruce's plans years ago - glad to see his website hasn't changed much! From what I remember he has quite a good
rep.
Thing is, his plans are quite expensive.
Anyway I decided on a small composite boat to start with - plans in garage
Must get car finished first!!!!!
