I have what was acquired with a pert built project a Pinto 1600. Allegedly in good condition. I don't want to do anything to it until the car is on the road, but I'd like to know if its HC/LC etc but I can't identify what Ford its from. There is a large 165 cast on the block, the carb is a twin venturi Weber with automatic choke on one barrel only, the exhaust manifold goes into two outlet bores, the date code is HM, Oct 87 according to Burtons. How can I identify it?
i've just googled and found this,

any help?
Thanks, quite useful but would still like to know about the carb!
Acording to the Sierra Haynes manual
Engine codes LCS and LCT used the Ford VV engine codes LSD and LSE used the Weber 2V 28/30 DFTH
With the 1600 engine putting out 55Kw and the 2.0L putting out 85Kw you would have to do some very serious tuning to the 1.6 to get close to a
standard 2.0L
However the standard 2.0L cam works like a fast road cam in a 1.6
