rear gearbox mount 750MC Locost

Hi, I am building a racer with my students based on a Stuart Taylor chassis. Question is if I bolt the rear gearbox mount through the chassis will this be strong enough. I would like to bolt rather than weld as this would mean easier box changes in battle conditions. I seem to remember welding the last one in place. Anyone with any pics of their installation would be welcomed. We run the escort mk 2 gt box in Locost in case anyone was wondering.

Hi.

The easiest and best for stability wise way to mount the gearbox is..

To use the old Anglia mount. Or as you will never manage to find one Caterham have there version made for them. All it needs then is a piece of steel strip bolted to the base of the mount wich then bolts to the strips of steel either side of the tunnel in the chassis. Quick and easy and this mounting provides stability for the gearbox unlike the sierra type which allows the box to move all over the place.

Cheers Matt. Dont suppose you have a picture of the steel bit do you . I "think" I have on of those - I was wondering whether the tubing was up to the side forces imposed , as its only 3/4inch or whether I need to weld in some crush tubes to re-inforce?
