Anyone know what can be used / where i can get somthing to blank the thermostat take off on a MK1 polo rad?

You could always buy a thermostat switch, I think they are about £3 on ebay.

If you mean the little pipe at the top, short length of pipe with a bolt stuffed in it, or you could tap it and put a bolt in

I bought a thermo switch and wired it in parallel with the one on the thermostat housing - the fan comes on if either switch operates.

I tapped the little pipe at the top and put an M5 bolt in it. Handy for bleeding the radiator when doing a coolant change.

Cheers guys got a fan switch blank sorted and seems like tapping the outlet is an excelent idea i was wondering how to get air out the system

Is this definetely not needed? I have it tee'd into the hose that runs from the thermostat itself to the header. However, it's a bit untidy and has sprung a leek, plus it makes nose-cone removal a bit tough. If I can get shot of it, I will.
