just thinking, i've only read ron's book, don't seem to remember anything about gearbox mounts. or on here either...
i need to make a bolt in crossmember for my gearbox mount, just wondering what everyone's made theirs from.
what thickness box section etc.
the plan would be to use a peice of box section, holes drilled in each end to bolt to the chassis, and remove some of the lower face to allow access
to the bolts for the type 9 gearbox mount.
or do i remove all of the bottom face to make a Ushape? but still, what thickness? it's going to be about 9" long, and its something like
1.5" square or something
Ive got an upside down "L" section welded to the lower bar either side of the tunnel with a cut down ford mount.
The "L" section has captive nuts welded to it, but still makes fitting the mount a BEEHATCH lol
Some peeps recommed using the westfield mount as it is sturdier and easier to mount that the standard ford item, this is the way I would have gone had
I not been restoring a previous build.
