Honda rip off
LBMEFM - 30/12/08 at 06:25 PM

Called a Honda dealer today to get the price of diaphragms for my Fireblade carbs. Bearing in mind I need four, I'm told that they would cost £420.00 per set, £105 each, I don't think so.

Is that for the whole set of carbs?

I did this, but for a set of 4 crabs for a blackbird. £2650!! was the answer. Although, the bird behind the desk did suggest a local breakers yard too.

Didn't know blackbirds ate crabs...

They appear to be $86 each from Bike Bandit (OEM part including piston).

= £60 per rubber..... Ouch...

Glad I brought a second-hand set of carbs of here when i needed some.

Had heard they were expensive but that's ridicules

I went into my local dealers today after a gasket set so I could refurb my carbs. £35 ea so £140 and then an extra £14 for the bits that arent' included.

Absolute rip off.

Looks like I'm gonna take my carbs apart and work out exactly what I need before I part with that much money.

Maybe try a different dealer. I bought the same thing for my R1 carb (obviously from a Yamaha dealer) and from memory it was less than a fiver. Try to find a dealer that sells different brands of bike. They may be a bit more reasonable.

Bike engine stuff is never economically sensible to repair.....thought you all knew that..........oh hang on, you didn't think there wasn't a catch to all that cheap performance did you......
