
I have a DTA S60 ECU, throttle bodies, Wide amplified Lambda sensor and as yet I do not have a MAP sensor. Is there really a need to run a MAP sensor
or only a water temp and Air temp sensor?

You could run on TPS and temp, I have a MAP sensor you can if you want, U2U me with and address and I will try and dig it out.

You have to have some sensor to tell the ECU what the load is. This is usually either MAP sensor measuring manifold pressure or throttle pot measuring butterfly angle.
I would have MAP to tell the ECU what the load is, as it is more accurate and more diverse if you want to turbo or supercharge later on.
I would also introduce as many monitoring sensors as possible (Water temp, oil presure and temp, charge temp etc), so as to be able to see what the
engine is doing early on. This way you have a clearer view when diagnosing faults, knocks, pops or farts. You can always leave the guages off but if
you have one of those all in one digi dash things, i always think its a shame not to use its full functionality.
Conversely, I would not!!!!!
Use a TPS, its MUCH easier to set up, less sensitive to some effects that can have undesirable effects on a MAP sensor, faster to respond and you
really don't need a MAP sensor!!
I am using two DTA S60's on a pair of bike engines in my aurograsser and I'm using no map sensor on either of them, use the KISS principle
and keep it simple.
TPS and crank sensor are all thats needed to run it, plus water temp and maybe air temp if you want it to start and idle properly from cold.
Add map later if you turbocharge etc. Its not difficult on DTA!
Thanks for all the advice and an offer of a sensor. I think at this stage I will go the easy route and not use a MAP sensor yet! I may take you up on
the offer once I get to the stage of ading one if needed if it is still available at the time.

oooh PS don't forget, although keep it simple, when you make the loom, run the wires for everything you think you might need plus some spares near to some of the plugs, then if you need to add stuff you only have to strip the heatshrink back from a couple of bits to make the loom
