If you mean Type 9 (or MT75) gearbox to a Crossflow then yes as all Ford 4 cylinder engines and gearbox bellhousings are standard up to the Zetec
yer sorry its a type 9.
so it will jst bolt straight up? ive read things about changing clutch parts and splines been different on other places.
you will need to change the clutch plate be careful though as the 1100 wont match the sierra ratios to well
X-fire do you mean xflow
sorry im getting my fires and flows mixed up!
what you mean it wont match? will it struggle with it?
Type 9 ratios are similar to all standard Ford RWD boxes except for it's overdriven 5th, so you'll be fine. It's the diff ratio that's important.
you will find your in and out of 5th a lot as 1100 hasant the powerer to pull on dout in 5th so is it worth it is the question
Type 9 gearbox is also VERY heavy
Some Escort 1100 models already have the 7.5" (190mm) clutch in which case you only need to change the driven plate.
But if it is the smaller 6.5" clutch you need to change the complete clutch & flywheel.
ive got the 7.5 inch clutch plate, so what do i need to swap it to? the sierra one?
bump!
1300 and 1600 Sierras and some 1600 Cortinas and Capris used a 7.5" driven plate with 23 splines -- also used in the Hillman/Chrysler
Avenger.
QH part number is C784AF
You may also find you need a Capri clutch release bearing
You will also need a different clutch release bearing -- I think a Capri bearing but somebody else will be able to confirm.
right so its a clutch plate and release bearing off a sierra but the diaphraghm can still be off the escort? have i got that right?
EDIT - just looked at QH website and the sierra and escort both use the same diaphragm, just different plates and bearings, so in my mind if i get a
sierra clutch kit, that will do me wont it?

Keep asking you need to check the part number for the release bearing -- istr QH part number is CCT132.
I really would advise you think twice this conversion -- the 5 gear will be use less, the intermediate gears a bit high and it is a veryheavy
gearbox.
So unless you intend fitting a bigger engine soon after you get the car running it is a bit of a waste of time.
