Type 9 to electronic speedo

Hi all
This may be another of my noddy questions but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have decided to use an electronic speedo and so I presume I need to blank off the fittings in the 'box where the speedo drive gear and cable would fit. I bought the 'box off ebay and it didn't have the drive gear fitted.

Do I just need this part from Burton (5th from bottom) "PLUG - SPEEDO GEAR RETAINER" GBT9541 ?

Cheers
Rich

Thats the part that fits from the underside (opposite of cable) and holds the gear in. Does that make sense

That's what I thought. Without it the drivegear would be exposed, right? What can I use to plug up the hole where the cable fits?

Cheers

A speedo gear. The 'O' ring (in the box) on the cable side seals on the gear.

You can fit electronic senders in the type 9 gearboxes. I think 2.0 litre granada's had them. Burton also do them

[The link to the Burton site didn't work in my post so do a search there for "speedo" and see the first two items]

Oil will leak out of the box if you dont plug the old speedo drive with something. I turned up some aluminium plugs to blank mine off.

Cheers,
David
