Zetec Temp Sender Q's
coozer - 20/1/09 at 07:41 PM

The picture shows the standard zetec temp sender unit (top) from the thermostat housing.

I wish to use my Racetech mechanical unit instead (below).

Is it OK to cut the Racetech probe back so it doesn't foul the thermostat inside the housing?

AND, does anyone know what thread the Ford bit is please?

dont cut it.
the bottom one has an thread adaper on it.
you could have a threaded sleave made to space it back.

I changed to the smaller ford sender from racetech (1/8NPT) which is screwed into the bottom of the thermo house under the stat, remember if its the electric it will need earthing.

I've used the bottom for the Acewell sensor but it doesn't read right. The fan kicks in at 86 degrees but the dash was showing 55..... That was a tickover warm up in the garage tho, I did wonder if once out on the road the water would be pumped round much harder.

I've got my acewell sensor in the top of the housing and it seems to work fine - I have nothing to compare it against, but the readings seem to be right.
