carb popping
prawnabie - 25/1/09 at 06:18 PM

Hi

What are the likely reasons to cause spitting back though the carb at about 2000rpm?

I have tried the timing from 10 to 14 btdc and it seems the same. Happens when hot or cold!

Engine specs..

1700 flow
Kent 234 cam
twin 40 webers

Thanks

Mixture too weak?

Carbs were jetted for a 1600 + 60. I thought they would be good enough for the 1700.

try a colortune on it.sounds like its jetted wrong or timing. or fuel mix.

okay thanks!

I take it if its running lean then the plugs will be clean? The engines virtually just been rebuilt.

Might just take it somewhere tbh and get it set up properly - thought I could iron out all the majopr creases before hand though!

2nd vote for lean. Or ign timinig/valve timing out.

Did the 1600 have the same cam?

I don't think so, Im sure it was a standard gt cam in the 1600 + 60

Thanks
