ZX9R CAT

I am confused over the requirement for a catalytic converter on a ZX9R E2 engine. As I understand it I will have to pass a CAT emmissions test, does this mean I have to fit a CAT in my exhaust system ? It was my understanding that the bike does not have a CAT as standard, although I have seen other posts on here where people have fitted one ??

Thanks.

Being an E2 engine then yes it does need a cat. The date that it wouldn't have needed one was prior to April 1995.
I think you'll find that it does have one fitted as standard its just that its integral to the standard can, so you don't know its there just by looking.

Ah, I see, so the best option looks to be using the standard ZX9R can ?? I know I have posted this elsewhere as well, but will the ZX9R can pass SVA ? has anyone else passed SVA using it ??

Thanks

The bike doesn't need a cat, it is not emissions tested but putting the engine in a car changes the implementation of the rules.
