My 3.9 V8 is from a '95 Discovery (intermediate front cover type) and has two threaded holes on the front cover used to connect an oil cooler.

I don't want to run an oil cooler. Can I simply blank the holes off, or do I need to plumb one hole to the other to maintain oil flow? In either case, does anyone know the thread size?

I've spoken to Rimmer Bros and a few others, but I've not managed to get a definitive answer to this.

I would think you will need to connect a pipe in between. Just add an oil cooler i would suggest. Opel calibras have some sort of pipe with some fins. Not exactly an oil cooler but similar.

If you fit a cooler, fit an oil stat as well so the oil warms up properly.

Personally I'd join the two together and go without, its not going to be as stressed as it was in the landy by a long shot.
