Really good forum for MK4's. Loads of help there.
That ones added to my favorites.
do I take it that the boost valve is also known as the dump valve ??? I gave this info to VW at the weekend and they where confused, if its a simple dumpvale then Ill just buy another just dont fancy running the car into VW
No, I believe the valve operates the dump valve - telling it when to open and when to close.
There's a few DV's you can get. H and J I think are the more popular ones (I think from an Audi TT??) and I'd replace this first and
then if this isn't fixed then the boost valve.
This post will help you identify the parts!

I would carefully check intake hoses, i had this problem and it was a split in one of the hoses
The boost valve operates the wastegate which controls boost pressure.
A dump valve (or a recirculation valve if you're not a chav) opens when there is an overpressure due to closing the throttle when the turbo is
still spinning fast and usually has no electronic control as far as I know.
Sounds as if it needs a clean, free off and check all the hoses.
A dump valve (or a recirculation valve if you're not a chav) ...
hey thats a bit harsh... i had a dv on my last car and im no chav!!!
