Silver top alloy sump what is the difference between the 2.0 and 1.8 sumps if any if different how can you tell.
Thanks.

the escort 1.8 sumps are shallower than the 2 litre ones.

So would a 1.8 silver top sump fit a 2.0 silver top?
It will have to have the depth reduced anyway.
Thanks

Yes it will fit ok, all 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 have the same stroke, so no worries there. Remember you may need to re-calibrate the dipstick for the correct ammount of oil for the engine size.

I'm being a bit slow here but if you have to chop it anyway why not save your money and chop the 2litre one.

The bowl is at the front on the escort and back on the mondeo.

When getting another sump make sure you get the windage tray and oil pick up pipe as they are differant.

It will go on. get the dipstick, dipstick tube and pick up from the escort 1.8 lump.

Mine hangs quite low under the chassis. When i sva'd it the sump bottomed out on the brake rollers and we had to lift the car out as it was stuck in.

Er no you do not want the oil any higher up the sump than it is at max currently as the cranks will aerate the oil and give you starvation problems through the pump sucking up air.
