1300 xflow

Assuming Quaility rod bolts, polished rods
ad balancing, what i the max rpm that is usable on a 1300 xflow?
What breaks first crank or rods?
Hillclimb /sprint use

I used to rev my tuned 1700 to 8000 - nothing broke , it just ate crank and bigend shells
I've heard of 1300`s revving to 9 plus with no major issues .

Not sure for the 1300, the shop that rebored my 1660 block advised me 7500rpm with the standard crank and rods. They were of the impression the crank would fail first.

I expect the 1300 may go a bit more than that. I set my hard cut to 7400.

I could never get a sensible answer to max revs for my 1660 x-flow... no-one would commit themselves, in case I blew my engine by following their advice!

So what would be a safe maximum for a nicely run-in xflow about 7000 miles after a total rebuild? On the plus side it had a rebore, new pistons & rings, all new bearings plastigage'd when fitted, new fast road cam & followers, and a slightly flowed big-valve head. On the down-side, it's got a standard rocker assembly & valve springs (possibly the clincher), standard crank, and a standard flywheel.

Currently I've limited the ignition to 6200 rpm, but the cam's range is 2000 - 6500 according to its spec. I'd just like a little more, without risking the engine - a bit of extra wear & tear is not a problem when I'm only doing around 2000 miles a year (so far).

Oh - and I won't hold anyone liable if it goes wrong - I take full responsibility for my actions!
