Hi,
has anyone utilised bike carbs and the associated airbox on their CEC?
I've got ZX6 carbs and am looking for a way to avoid building one myself.
Cheers

I would have thought (though I'm no expert!) that it wouldn't be a great idea to use the bike air box. The volume of airboxes is fairly
critical to ensure it's tuned for resonance at the optimal rpm for the engine. The air box will be tuned for a 600cc engine at a particular rpm,
whereas a CEC engine will be much larger, therefore sucking in more air and needing a larger volume.
There are formulae around the internet for calculating the size of airboxes etc, so you could measure the volume of your airbox (fill it with water or
something) and see how that correlates to the optimal size you calculate for your engine.
Or you could just stick it on an see what happens
I'm not sure how much it will affect things really, given that although the engine is bigger it will be turning less RPM, so the air requirement should be similar. The main issue may well be in fitting the box itself, as they tend to be an odd shape designed to fit around the fairing and under the fuel tank.
What about one of the sock filters that itg/weber/piper-x make? Or, small indiviual conical filters.
Don't know about the practicality of a bike airbox but they are as ugly as sin!
