I need to move the exhaust further back, by only 15/20mm. The best method seems to be to use an oval spacer between the downpipe with the cat in and the rear section. This would move the exhaust box further back giving me the clearance I need.

Can I make this spacer using 15mm aluminium ? If not, any suggestions ?

I would say no, if you did I would not expect it to last very long before it gets damaged

Aluminium has a melting point around 660 degrees C.

Exhaust gas from a petrol engine can get to around 900 degrees C at the manifold.

I believe that a CAT runs at 400 to 600 degrees C. So perhaps after the cat you may be OK, but still seems a bit close in temperature.

Can you not make one from steel instead?

Yeah, its just the can that needs moving back. The idea of aluminium was because its easier to cut.

Steel, will be a tad harder to work with. Is there anyone on here that will do small jobs ?
