hi have a quick question. its the last thing i need to no before i do the engine conversion. have a zetec 1.8 si engine from a r-reg escort. has 16v zetec on rocket, i believe its the seris 2 engine. it has air con and pas. i want to remove these and just run the alt and water pump, could anyone help me out with a belt for this please? thanks ian

easiest way is get a water pump from an escort poverty spec with no PAS (pump spins the other way),fit whatever alternator you choose and measure up for the drive belt as that will depend on the alternator you use

if you measure round your pulleys, in millimeters, your local motor factor should be able to order you in any length belt. mine did

they come in lengths of 5mm steps, ie 185mm, next size up is 190mm, 195mm etc

They surely do. Go onto the Contitech website and you can even cross reference in one of their PDFs which road cars use which belts as standard.

If you're looking at multi-ribbed belts the coding is

xKy

where x is the number of ribs and Y is the diameter

e.g. 4K890

It should be simple then to just order that OEM belt from a local factor.
