Hi all i am thinking of changing my water plumbing on the pinto how have people done theres ?.
At the mo i have rad top to thermastat.
bottom rad to water pump.
Out head to header tank with, top that lets air in and out.
And out of header tank to 5/8 pipe on water pump
Not that I know anything but why would you want to change it if it works?
Why are you looking to change the set-up you've got?
For what it's worth, my set-up is...thermostat to (Polo) rad top, water pump to rad bottom, inlet manifold looped to water pump with a T off to
header tank and header tank breather to small outlet on thermostat.
Never been able to overheat it although I haven't been on track with it.
I don't have a thermastat fitted it has not had one for 4 years and some times it will not get to the wright temperature so i thought i would have a go at fitting one+ the pluming
Isn't that unhealthy for the engine?
Leave the plumbing as it is and just fit a stat, same set up as mine and I dont have any heat problems

I am using an 82deg one. Think its the std fiesta one.

David is your header tank a sealed system or the one that lets air in & out
Hi Graham,
As you may have seen in my recent post, I'm having overheating problems. I have a very similar setup to yours, except no header tank - the inlet
manifold loops round to the water pump directly. My rad is a single-row Escort 1300 and thermostat is in place and appears to work. The small inlet on
the 'stat housing is blanked off.
What radiator are you using?
Once I've sorted this problem, the SUs are going on!
Cheers,
John.
