What cars were 1600 x-flow fitted to?
MB - 24/2/04 at 08:41 PM

I eventually want to replace my 1100cc x-flow with a larger cc engine preferably a 1600 unit.

Does anyone know which Fords these were fitted to? I only know they were in some of the Escort 1 and 2s. Would be useful to know when I'm on the phone to scrap yards....

Alternatively, is there anything that can be done to my 1100 to make it a larger cc? I suspect it would need lots of bits replacing...

P.S. Have a 1600 , 711 engine in need of rebuild for sale , was running up until november, has low oil pressure

Don't forget the escorts!!

Beware the really early xflows, mid way through the mk2 cortinas, they were 3 bearing crank - bad news!!

M.B already mentioned the escorts, the 711 block is the one to look for . Rusty

Is it the 711 block that had 5 bearings?

Can you tell from the casting / engine number what cc the engine is?

Rusty, I've sent you a u2u about your engine that needs rebuilding. I quite often make my way over to Cottenham near Cambridge...

All X'Flow blocks from all car models had 5 bearing cranks. Some of the old pre x'flow stuff such as the Ford Classic 109E were 3 bearing.

By the way anyone got any 109E blocks for sale?
