mt75 taking apart
hellbent345 - 23/4/09 at 09:30 PM

Ive buggered my gearbox i think
I was trying to take it apart and ive undone some bolts that i dont think should have been undone. Some things fell away into the inside of the gearbox... and i still cant get the back off.

So does this guide http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/manualtrans/MT75Overhaul.pdf have to be followed to the letter? Im worried that itll mean a lot of money having to replace bits that i wouldnt have had to replace? whats the simplest most not intrusive way of getting the back of an mt75?

Thanks
al

Question is.. why were you taking it apart?

Got one for sale again! Long ways from yourself though?

aghhhhh woe is me, i have asked myself this many times since i first took out that bolt that let something drop inside! I was intending to have a look at the wear of the gears, and to see whether or not to change the front section over from a 4x4 one i have! wish id just kept it as it was, id probably have it nearly fitted by now.

Where are you chap, i might be interested in getting a third gearbox if i can get this one put back together otherwise does anyone know of any cheap transmission refurbishers?

Thanks
Al

HA! the good ol' "if it ain't broke, take it apart to see how it works" and it soon will be broke - approach. I think its a favourite of most locosters!

I took one apart once using the same link -
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/manualtrans/MT75Overhaul.pdf

Can`t remember any shortcuts though I'm afraid - it was a pain in the ass! Good luck.

I have a good one for sale if yours is sh@gged... see my for sale thread.
