Rad temp switch [ pinto ]

Hi all what temp dose your rad fan cut in ? is it the same as the thermostat opens 84% ?
I have an ajustabel switch on my fan so can set it to what i like
my engine is a 2l pinto

I would set it to cut in at around 90 deg. Thts when I manually turn mine on....will have to fit an auto switch when I go duratec.....

Mine cuts in at 92 and goes off at 87C. These figures are usually etched on some part of the switch. Be aware that some switches don't cut in until over 100C which in my view is way too high.

One thing I would suggest is that your cut-off point for the switch should still be above the thermostat fully open temperature. Otherwise the thermostat will be closed by the cooling effect of the radiator which means that water will no longer flow through the radiator. My thermostat is 74C for example so it is fully open at 87C when the fan stops.

It has to be higher than the thermostat, typically 92 to 95 (coolant boils at around 115 to 120 under pressure).

Dropout temperture is typically 5 degrees lower than cut in
