I have just bought some new flywheel bolts from the Ford dealer.
They have a softish yellow coating of some sort half way along the thread.
Is this some sort of thread lock compound, or do I add my own, will the two mix?

Yep, the patch will be thread lock that spreads round as you screw it in.
