air boxes?
daniel mason - 13/5/09 at 07:28 PM

i have seen an air box on ebay for a 5jj R1 engine and am wondering if it would be a good addition to the mnr! the inlet however appears to be on the side of the box. is this normal? and would it fit? his ebay user name is qbert_10 so if anyone could take a look or even post a link with some advice it would be a great help. thanks.

The inlet is actually on the front of the box. Don't forget you have your engine in a different orientation to that originally intended.

Its highly doubtful that the airbox will fit under the bonnet. I have an Indy with an R1 5JJ engine. You have to rotate the airbox 180 degrees to have a chance of getting the airbox to fit under the bonnet bulge, even then you will have to modify it, as the carb inlets are not equally spaced. I would imagine doing that in carbon fibre would be seriousl annoying.
