Bog standard 3.5 RV8 with bog standard sump. Any idea what volume of oil covers the min to max marks on the dipstick?
About 5.5 - 6 litres if I remember correctly.

Hmmm there are at least 3 bog standard Sumps that I know of (Have in the shed).
About 5.5 - 6.0 litres sounds about right to me.
Stick with 20/50 or 15/50 as a min.
Avoid the 5/ and 10/ oils they are for more modern engines.
Dont expect a huge oil pressure. 30-35psi at about 3000 rpm is the norm. Its more about volume than pressure on a RV8.
An oil cooler is a good idea if you are going to thrash it.

According to my SD1 Haynes book, that's the volume of the entire sump. I was more wondering that if my oil level is on the min mark of the dipstick, how much do I put in without risking overfilling?
Turns out to be about 1 litre between low and high
My 1974 P6 3.5 takes dead on one container. Which i think is 4.5l.
Thats what it says on the wing, and brings it to just below max mark.
