Hi Everyone
I am ready to buy the donor car(s) but my choice is fairly limited up here in the frozen north. I was hoping for a V6 Cosworth out of a Scorpio but I
can’t find any whole cars for reasonable money and the engines are silly priced on their own.
Would a 2.5 Duratec from a Mondeo be a good alternative? What about a gearbox would a MT75 fit this engine? If so what would be the best year and
model of Sierra to buy for this and the other bits I’ll need?
Cheers
Colin
The 2.5 Duratec is a much better choice than the much older Cosworth V6, IMHO.
Apart from anything else it will be quite a bit lighter. Not too sure about the gearbox so will stay quiet on that

As far as I know (from reading on here) either the MT75 or type9 fits, not sure which if either...
Sounds like a job for the "How to" list!
The gearbox is a problem, neither the MT75 nor the Type9 (or any other Ford RWD gearbox) will bolt onto a Duratec V6. This is the main reason they
aren't very popular.
The gearbox from the S-Type Jag can be made to fit (if you do a search through the archive someone has done it) but there are a few issues to be
sorted IIRC.
If you don't mind making an adapter plate other gearboxes could be fitted, or I
believe there are now bellhousings available to mate a T5 to this engine.
This suggests PowerTorque should be able to
supply them, though nothing shown on their website.
