I have my MOT next week and I cannot get my co2 reading below 5-6%. I am running a 2lt Pinto and bike carbs.
Is there anyway round this so that I can pass OK. (ie bribe the examiner!!!)
I plan to put in on a rolling road to get it set up properly around the end of August time after my new engine has been run in, but I need it on the
road so that I can do the miles
When was the car built? is it on an age related plate?
Are you on a Q plate? Does your V5C have emissions stated?
In any case, I wouldn't worry about it. Just take it for MOT and if it should fail on emissions, then fix it.
Phil
Take your car round to a friendly MOT garage and put it on their gas analyser. Turn the mixture screws down on each carb to lean the idle mixture out
a bit until the CO comes down to a respectable level.
The idle mixture won't affect full throttle fuelling so don't worry about it.
Its on a F plate so needs to meet 3.5% co. I have a gunsons co tester and have fully closed the mixture screws and it still runs at 5-6%
Any suggestions?
If its ticking over to fast you could be running on the main jets that is why the idle screws are not working.
It ticks over at 1000rpm because it has a lumpy can in it. I will try turning the tickover down and see what happens
why do people go for age related plates not Q??
I deliberately went for a Q to avoid this carp

Except the donkeys at DVLA put emission limits from SVA on my Q plate V5....
Not sure what the MOT computer has on it though....
