Replace my 2.0l Ford Twincam with a 3.5 l rover V8 from an SD1
Do you prefer wheel spin to acceleration? Fit a V8!
My god! there was me going to suggest the Ford twink was just as old school as the RV8 when I saw that the last DOHC Ford was created in 2006 for the
Ford Galaxy. Wow.
Personally I'd go for something a little more up to date. How about an LS9. Can't be too long before someone imports a 2009 Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1 into the UK and finds it doesn't go round corners very well
The Rover at least has some tuning potential. However, if you are just doing a swap and keeping it standard then it might be a lot of work for not a lot of gain.
Its an old 92 twinkcam EFI with the associated headache and serious lank of tuning parts and an optimistic stock BHP from new of 125 BHP and this
engine has over 100000 miles on it
I am informed the rover might be the vitesse verion which was 190 BHP stock but tuning will probably be the winter 2010/2011 project
The guy I am buying it from produces racing range rovers and they can tune to 265 BHP with minimal outlay

Well you'ld get 140-150Bhp just by going to a stock 2.0L zetec or duratec (not much difference between them stock). And the duratec is seriously
tunable
the way I see it....
there isn't much in the way of off the shelf parts to tune the twincam with (unless you find a turbo kit)
there are loads of tunning bit for RV8's, but it costs a fortune to get big power
but assuming that your not too bothered about all that and your just going to use the standard engine, and given the choce of just these two -
I'd go for the RV8
its lighter, more powerful and sounds better

Turbo kit for twincam are as rare as rocking horse excrement and cost a small fortune.
i voted V8, but next i would go pinto
The most you'll get out of an sd1 is around 150bhp and there isn't a lot you can do to them to raise that, they are sh$te engines, you can
tell because cobras that have sd1's cost about ten grand less then cobras that have a decent ford or chevy in them!
I would go zetec or duratec and avoid the sd1 like it was swine flu!
I wouldn;t touch the v8 with a stinky stick
I had 5 in a landorver and all gave problems, overheating , oil pump problems, bottom end problems.. Problem is most v8's now adays are old and
worn unless you get a true re-built. You'd be cheaper and happier with a NEWer FORD
Eventually through the V8 away an put in a 200tdi diesel (suited my needs) and ended up with an awsome machine
If it's the Twin Plenum V8, they have a bit more poke but not enough to warrent fitting one! The V6 Alfa in my car has just over 200bhp and cost me -£8. If you're going to all the trouble of an engine swap, it needs to be worthwhile. For that reason, I wouldn't bother with the RV8.
What about twin bike engines?
