Rolling Road

OK well I know a lot of you guy put the ford Twincam down due to lack of tunability etc but as mine came free with the donor it went in the car. My plan was to run it until destruction then look at something else.

Then thoughts turned to wanting more power and zetec blacktop and mazda V6 and even a rover V8 were discussed and i got very interested in a winter 2009 transplant.

The reason being i was thinking it was probably at sub 100 BHP as it is quite an old engine with over 100000 miles on it and I had done nothing with it other than new plugs and leads oil and filter change and a cone filter, more due to space than wanting the performance.

Imagine my surprise and delight when I put it on the rolling road at newark and it came back with 111 BHP. Now the wife is saying the we have enough power to keep me happy and certainly enough to scare her.

Ill just have to put the transplant plans on the back burner until i manage to kill it. At which point the discussions will begin again. Mazda V6 is sounding very tempting tho I must admit.

as an aside, Clairetoo I think you have another convert. Tim, of orange jumper fame, was seriously tempted by the V6 transplant i think. and given his pinto was only pushing 66 BHP ish I suspect it wont be too long before he starts picking your brains.

Cloudy's gsxr1100 (yes I know it's a bec), second hand and fairly old, recorded 161bhp.
Just stick a bike engine in it!

there was a mazda v6 engine on ebay the other day £125 and it didn't sell. might be worth trying to track it down and see if has been relisted?

do not pass to the dark side, you MUST resist the tempation!

Oh dont worry omega bike engines dont interest me.

No offense to the BEC guy but this it a fun family car and i dont think the mrs and kids will take too kindly to a howling blade engine or ZX whatever as we go along. Especially as the exhaust is on her side. It would have to exit passenger side as I already have the hole that side of the bonnet.

Hi All,

Back home again, from 5 weeks in Algeria, and just made the show at Newark.

Thanks to Claire for showing me under her bonnet....very impressed. I think I have some work cut out for me.

The car is still going strong and had a nice drive back from Newark, but the top of my head later on was like my sweater. If you look closely you can just see an outline where my sunglass were on the drive back. No I am not sending a pic!!!!

Got to go as have to search fle_bay for a V6 ish.....
