There is a rumour that a starter from a diesel escort is suitable when using a Zetec Engine & type 9 gearbox with the 1.6 or 1.8 flywheel.

Anyone know the exact model or part number.

I already know about using the Lucas 707 starter, but they seem to be very rare and worth the earth.

I just bought this...

Works perfectly with my 1.8 escort zetec with original flywheel and a type 9 box.

I had from Sierra , 1.8 Manual SOHC CVH FOund that it hit the sump of the zetec and needed the web moved to get it to fit perfect.

But then I bough a short sump from Tiger(I think) and it now fits perfect.
