Hi, i just been looking on ebay and found a Mk5 Escort RS2000 RS 2000 2.0 16v Engine I4 for an ok price. how easy/hard is it to fit one of these?????
bottom end is the same as the 8valve sierra/granada twin cam engine, usually just called the dohc engine on here, have a look through who has fitted
one of those, a few on here have.
The 16v version is a very good engine (actually better than a zetec in terms of power, and more tuneable), but both the 8 valve and 16v are rather
heavy.

That's interesting, I would like to know how or in what area the 16v is better than a zetec?
It is rather easy to fit.
The lower end is almsot the same as the 8v DOHC.
You need some bits from sierra 8v DOHC
**Alu Sump, shortened, and pick-up pipe for oil pump.+Baffle plate.
**Starter from Sierra to fit with MT 75
**Spigot bearing
**Clutch bearing from Mondeo ( same with zetec)
**Dip stick need to be relocated, same as the sierra engine
ECU can easely be used, need some work on the wiring of course
The intake manifols need some work, make new one like mine for instance.
Or adapt one fom late Scorpio 2.3
Exhaust collecter need some work to fit, or use late Galaxy 2.3 one.
I have put mine on the rolling road last week, 165 BHP with only Collins chip fitted
To achieve 165 BHP from zetec, I believe it will be more expensive

I'm fitting an RS2000 engine to a Zero at the moment. And I'm not sure what to do about engine management. I'd like to use the standard system but the inlet plenum wont go under the bonnet without a bulge. And I need to make it run on one lamda sensor instead of the standard two, plus do away with the APS system in the exhaust. I read with interest that you have fited one to a Locost. How did you overcome the lamda sensor thing or did you use two. Any advice would be welcome as I'm loathed to spend out on an after market ECU etc, due to cost and I think I'm going to scare myself with the standard 150bhp as it is.
