Is fuel hose oil proof?
twybrow - 10/7/09 at 04:04 PM

As above, is fuel hose man enough to carry hot oil? I need to extend an oil cooler pipe from the bike engine, and wondered what to use.... (locost stylee of course!).

I don't know.

Think auto did me a pair of 1m hoses, with banjo bolts one end and bsp fittings at the other end for my oil cooler set up.

£42 all in for the pair.

I tried normal hose / hose clips once. They wouldn't hold the pressure.

i don't see why not, they petrol and oil both come from the same place...

don't know for definite though

i used fuel hose for my oil catch tank breather - obviously no pressure in that though

The proper reinforced oil pipe isn't very expensive, about £6 meter from Rally Design, but you may be able to find it localy.

use proper stuff when it comes to engine oil. if something goes wrong and the oil is lost it could cost £££

as long as its injection hose it will be fine,
carb hose wont take the pressure

I just want to test a theory really. I want to see if moving my oil cooler makes a difference to the temperature of the oil. I was going to get proper hoses made up, but not if I don't need to move it!

youl be ok for not too long if its injection hose. I think the oil will eat away at it in the end if its used for too long.

As per my (and others) previous post fuel eats fuel hose too
