Hi,

Due the noise-regulations in NL we can't have open air-filters. I found yesterday a air-box from a Daewoo which fits perfect.
Only the intake is 50 mm and the trottle- valve in my Ford-intake is also 50 mm. The orginal Ford airbox intake was 55 mm.

Will this affect the performance?

the intake will be placed above the gear-box. My idea this is better for the noise.
But will the intake temperature not become to high?

you'd notice the difference from the diameter of the intake. But you will notice it if you take air from over the gearbox as that area is where alot of the hot air from the engine is going

the air will be much less dense giving you less power. Try and supply the inlet with fresh cold outside air.

Can you mod the in take by using plastic drain pipe to increase the diameter. You can heat the pipe and shape it to create a bell intake for example.

Have a search on autospeed.com they've done a lot of DIY articles on reducing inlet restrictions. As already mentioned taking in hot air will quickly undo any other gains you make.

Then look of it has big affect on the drive-by noise.
