Stuart_B - 15/7/09 at 07:52 PM

hi all, at the moment, i am just looking at options for an engine conversion, so i throught about bike engine, is there a bike engine which the exhaust comes out teh same side as a pinto, and go over the top chassis rail or does it have to come out the side?

as well about paddle shift is this a hard thing to do?

thanks

stuart

every time I think about a paddle shift I get excited - and it's making me want a bike engine.

I could sell you my brand new zetec and I could get a bike engine

i do not want a zetec, it is either duratec or possible bike.

i all way wanted a squential gearbox

Due to the angle of the dangle the exhaust ports will be pointing down, hence going under the rails, unless you can get you engine high, VERY high

Also with the sprocket output being on the left hand side (i carnt think of anything that would be suitable and on the right) the engine will be lent over to the left side of the car to get the output facing backwards.

And yes paddle shift is shiny
The linkage isnt hard to do but find something to use as the paddle might be harder, have a look at the gallery on my website, www link below

Paddle shift is easy.

I made my own from scratch using a cable for shifting and it works with the stick shift too. Which was a surprise to me

Pan engine would be way under powered and the transmission drive will give you endless bother to convert..

i went pinto to zx9r, had to buy a new bonnet because of the exhaust and the bulge gives you more room for the filter.
if you are going to do it, do it right get a new bonnet.
Oh also if you go bec you wont regret it.
