I'm looking to change the timimg belt today on my pinto engine, any one got any instructions on how to do it, i have a fair idea but i just want to read over some thing and make sure i have every thing pinned and in the correct postions. Cheers Davy

I've heard of people cutting the old one down the length with the plugs removed so it turns over easy and then taking off the front half of the old one, then sliding the new one on then cutting the old one totally off and pushing the new one fully home. I'd try that but just in case I would mark up where all the pulleys are at the mo before taking the old one off. Just an idea.

Cheers Rich

Slacken the pulley bolt (tight) Turn the crank so that it is at TDC and the cam mark is aligned, mark the distributor shaft gear position , slacken the adjuster and remove the belt. Refit reversing procedure. Worse part is likely to be getting the pulley undone/off
