I have a Type 9 gearbox that has been a garden ornament for a couple of years.
I thought I'd give it a strip-and-regasket with a view to possibly fitting it instead of the auto at some point in the future.
From my Haynes manual it turns out to be a subtype N.

The manual identifies subtypes A1, A2, B, C & N as variants on the T9.

Is the N variant
a) a hunk of cr*p, so bin it;
b) as good as any type 9, so use it;
c) as rare as rocking horse ordure, so sell it for £££££££.

Also...it has a tag showing R839T/KD, whatever that means.

A quick google suggests it's a standard Sierra gerabox so I'd refurb and refit.

A bit more reading reveals that the A, B & C are four speed.
N is the 5 speed so it's just a regular standard ordinary box.
